Cruzin’ For Life Rolls Through Santa Maria

The 10th annual Cruzin’ for Life in Santa Maria kicks off Friday with a meet and greet at the Santa Maria Fairpark.

Volunteers prepared Broadway for the cruise, which will close down the street between Cook Street and Stowell Road Saturday between noon and 4 p.m.

The cruise benefits the American Cancer Society, the Marian Cancer Care Center and the tri-county Make a Wish Foundation.

It’s a chance for cancer survivors to ride down Broadway in a classic car. “Little kids come, too and they’re able to ride in the car and they are able to go fast and feel the rumbling of that motor and it brightens up their spirits,” said Cruzin’ for Life organizer Robert Bonilla.

Last year, the event raised more than $100,000. All of the money raised stays right here on the Central Coast.

“It helps out with their fuel bills, their gas bills, their utilities for their homes, and all of this can be obtained through Mission Hope at Marian,” said Bonilla.
