Community Channel Hands Out Awards

The 10th annual CAPPIE awards took place in Ventura Thursday night.

CAPPIE stands for community access partners.

The awards went to people who produced original programming for Ventura’s cable access channel known as CAPS. The non-profit offers hands-on media training to schools, city agencies and individuals.

NewsChannel 3’s Tracy Lehr presented the Arts, Culture and Music award to Eddie Abbott for his work on the Riley Real Network.

Ventura City councilmember Christy Weir congratulated all of the CAPPIE nominees and winners. Weir said, ” CAPS-TV is a vital part of our community. Not only do they broadcast all of our City Council and School Board meetings, they provide expert training and use of their equipment to anyone who wants to learn TV and film production for the low membership fee of $25.”
