Attorney General Kamala Harris honors local law enforcement
California Attorney General Kamala Harris spent part of the day in Santa Barbara honoring distinguished members of local law enforcement. Sixteen officers from Ventura County to San Luis Obispo received the attorney general’s award for their courage and extraordinary work.
. Prior to the ceremony at the Earl Warren Show grounds, Harris addressed issues surrounding public safety, cartel and gang activity and advancements in crime-fighting technology. She also addressed the growing problem of drug smuggling boats that wash up on our coastline.
Two local citizens were among the honorees. The attorney general typically hand-selects a few awards once a year for each county at the regional zone meeting.
