Kitchen Fire at Santa Ynez Valley Grange Hall

Santa Barbara County Fire responded to a fire in the Santa Ynez Valley Grange Hall Thursday.

It happened just after 9:00 a.m. on 644 block of Alamo Pintado Avenue in Los Olivos. Grange Hall is nonprofit community center.

Fire officials said the blaze appears to have started in the kitchen area of the community center. The kitchen and backroom areas suffered extensive damage.

Crews made an interior attack and put out the fire in about 30 minutes. County Fire said once the fire was extinguished, firefighter and former Marine Capt. Gordon O’Neill brought an American flag out of the smoke filled building to prevent it from further damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and no injuries were reported.
