UC Santa Barbara Gets the Spotlight on Good Morning America

Good Morning America anchor Josh Elliott took his audience to UC Santa Barbara this morning.

In the early 1990’s, Elliott spent four years at UCSB, playing water polo, and writing for the Daily Nexus newspaper. He went on to work for Sports Illustrated, ESPN, The Jim Rome Show and Good Morning America where he is one of the morning anchors.

This week GMA is going back to the college campuses where the anchors attended.

Elliott’s segment included a tour of UCSB by longtime friend Justin Pollack. The campus was described as,”the most beautiful in the country,” by Elliott. Many aerial shots were shown along with school newspaper office, past photos of Elliott at graduation with his mother, and the scenic beach nearby.

UCSB Director of News and Media Relations, George Foulsham said the school is aware of the recognition Elliott gives to the campus and Santa Barbara community on a regular basis. “He is loved by everybody across this campus. Everybody recognizes how valuable it is to have Josh Elliott representing us on a national news program like that,” said Foulsham.

UCSB says it is getting recognition on many levels these days. Along with the GMA feature, many researchers have received high honors including Pulitzer Prizes, and the college is consistently ranked among the best in the nation.
