Suspicious Device Found in SLO Business District
San Luis Obispo police are investigating the discovery of a suspicious device near the front door of a business.
It happened about 10am Wednesday morning along the 1300 block of Chorro.
The responding officers found the device was put together in such a way, it needed to be handled with caution.
The unidentified business was evacuated and the county Bomb Task Force was called out. Chorro and Pacific were closed off to through traffic, and nearby employees were told to stay indoors.
The BTF’s robot was used to remove the device, and put it in a secure container.
Investigators are trying to determine if the device was destructive or capable of doing harm, and San Luis Obispo police are investigating whether the device has any significance to the date of 9/11.
Police say leaving an implied or actual destructive device is a criminal act.
The department did not release photographs or a complete description of the device.
