Cafe Royale Cooking Up Culinary Interest at San Marcos High

The new Caf Royale has opened at San Marcos High School.

The concept not only creates a new dining lounge for the staff, but the new kitchen will soon be used for culinary classes for students. Those courses begin in January.

It will serve as a Career Technical Training Program and plans are in works to link the high school students with the Santa Barbara City College Culinary Arts Program.

At San Marcos, students will be taught by an educational chef. They will learn about health and safety along with knife skills, measurements, culinary math, basic nutrition, food handling, and culinary terminology.

The kitchen is adjacent to the cafeteria.

Help with this project came from The San Marcos High School Royal Pride Foundation. It provides funding and support for a variety of projects that are not budgeted by the Santa Barbara Unified School District.
