Bishop Diego Returns to Santa Ynez, Older & Better
They’re back and they are older and a whole lot better than in 2011.
Two years ago Bishop Diego opened the season by starting close to ten sophomores on varsity as they lost a heartbreaker at Santa Ynez 23-22.
Many of those players are now starting seniors and this time the Cardinals bring a #1 ranking to the Valley to battle the Pirates. Bishop is No. 1 in the CIF Northwest Division.
The Cardinals opened up the season last week with a 48-0 victory against Santa Maria. The Pirates will not be pushovers as they upset Dos Pueblos last Friday 11-7.Santa Ynezgot a great game from Nick Nielsen who kicked a 47-yard field goal and caught the game-winning touchdown pass.
Game time is 7p.m. on Friday.
