Medical Rescue on Santa Rosa Island

The Coast Guard medevaced a 67-year-old man from Santa Rosa Island suffering from what appeared to be severe dehydration, Thursday morning.

The man was onboard a passenger vessel, the Truth, when he started feeling ill.

Coast Guard Air Station Los Angeles launched a MH-65 Dolphin helicopter to perform the medical rescue.

The master of the passenger vessel transported the man to Santa Rosa Island where they were met by National Park Service staff.

The park service members moved the patient to a landing area where the helicopter could pick him up.

The man was transported to a Santa Barbara hospital for treatment.
