DUI Charges Filed in Forklift Accident
DUI charges have been filed against the driver of a forklift involved in a deadly accident.
District Attorney Joyce E. Dudley said Daniel Garcia Castillo, age 37, of Santa Maria will face two felony counts of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and two counts of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol causing injury.
On Thursday, investigators believe Castillo made a left turn in his forklift and drove into the path of a Honda Civic on Philbric Road.
The impact killed the driver Adolfo Cedillos Pozos and Casilda Dias Pozos, one of his three passenger.
Celiset Pozos and Mayte Pozos Carrasco were injured.
Castillo’s arraignment was postponed until Friday in Santa Maria.
Bail is set at $250,000.
