SBCC Students Warned of Possible Rape

Security at Santa Barbara City College sent a warning to students Tuesday about an alleged rape on campus.

The notice was sent via email and posted in several campus locations. SBCC security reported a student claimed to have been approached from behind, knocked to the ground and assaulted on Sunday afternoon. The posted note called the incident an ‘alleged crime,’ not a confirmed one.

Students were asked to contact police with any information on any suspicious activity on campus Sunday afternoon by dialing 911 or calling the campus security office at 730-4200.

The note, which was posted on campus Tuesday, also encouraged students to exercise caution by walking in pairs and having a cell phone ready to use in case of an emergency.
