Arrest made in murder of man found in freezer

Jeffrey Korber, of Laguna Beach, disappeared in 2011.

In June, Ventura police found the 58-year-old’s remains in a freezer located in a storage unit off Market Street.

This week, police named a Ventura mother and son as suspects. Officers arrested Michael Bresnak on suspicion of murder. The 49-year-old was already in custody on unrelated charges. They have not arrested his 66-year-old mother, Mary “Francesca” Hannan, of Ventura. They don’t think she is a threat but Investigators believe she may have helped hide the body at Ventura Mini Storage.

Detectives say Hannan had an on-and-off-again live-in relationship with Korber, but they have not released a possible homicide motive.

The manager of the storage unit said the mother and son visited the storage unit often, but she did not consider it suspicious enough to call the police.

Ventura detectives are asking anyone with information about the crime or the persons involved to contact the Ventura Police Department Major Crimes Division at 339-4441.
