Brush fire burns 10 acres

Leigh Johnson called 911 around 3 p.m. Tuesday after seeing flames from her house near Cebada Canyon and Cooper Roads near Lompoc. She said her power went out as soon as it started.

Santa Barbara county firefighters arrived quickly and had plenty of help from the air and on the ground.

The California Conservation Corps out of Camarillo was in the area and offered hand crews.

Vandenberg Hotshots arrived in time to help mop up.

Crews held the fire to 10 acres.

It burned through a fence on vacant property near Coopers Ranch and burned a hillside full of dry grass and shrubs.

Pacific Gas and Electric crews restored power around 6 p.m.

Fire investigators are trying to determine whether a downed power line sparked the flames.
