Update: Lanes on Highway 101 now open after power pole fire
Update: 3:45 p.m. ALL lanes of Highway 101 will be closed from 11:55 p.m. to 2 a.m. for repair work on a power pole that was on fire early this morning between Carpinteria and Summerland.
Prior Update: Lanes on both sides of the 101 are now open after being temporarily shut down due to a power pole fire near Padaro Lane in Summerland. Via Real, which runs parallel to the 101, remains closed.
The first call regarding the fire came in about 9:21 this morning. Montecito Fire and the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Department immediately responded.
According to Southern California Edison, power will be restored by 2:00pm to the 47 residents still affected by the resulting outage.
The cause of the fire is still unknown.

Multiple agencies are on scene of a Southern Californian Edison electrical pole that was on fire.
It was reported to California highway Patrol around 9:20 a.m. Friday. CHP officials said both sides of Highway 101 were closed for about an hour to an hour and a half between south and north Padaro Lane.
According to the CHP website Via Real will be closed for most of the day.
Officials also stated the pole appears to be falling over.
Montecito Fire District and Santa Barbara County Sheriff are assisting.
Edison officials have been notified of the fire.
