San Marcos High School welcomes freshman class at orientation
School is still a week away for students at San Marcos High School but the incoming freshman class is already getting acquainted with their new digs.
More than 500 freshman students packed into the San Marcos gym for orientation. Members of the Royal Link Crew, who are current students at SMHS, led the freshman through fun activities where they meet new people and showed them around campus.
“I think it’s creating a first positive experience for all the freshman,” Senior Link Crew member, Laurel Mead said.
It’s not only the first days of high school for the students, but their parents too. While students had fun in the gym, parents had their own form of orientation.
“This is a school that really loves and counts on our parents to be involved,” PTSA President Alisa Haley said. “It’s part of the reason we are such a great school.”
Incoming freshmen received their classes, learned where their lockers are and were shown around campus.
The first day of school is Monday, Aug. 26.
