Skaters prepare to defend their turf
The public is welcome to attend a meeting at Skater’s Point in Santa Barbara to get to the bottom of a summer filled with problems at the popular park.
Problems range from water balloons fights to drug use.
A Carpinteria teen was also arrested for riding a motorcycle in the park.
The Parks and Recreation Department temporarily closed the park last month.
Parks in Camarillo and Santa Paula have had similar problems.
Meetings in those cities led to tougher safety rules and more supervision.
Local skaters plan to defend their reputation tonight. They have said that a majority of skaters behave at the park.
The public meeting starts at 6 p.m.
