Parenting advice at Santa Barbara Unified School District

Parents of kids in the Santa Barbara Unified School District now have somewhere to turn for help with the challenges that come with raising children.

The Parent Resource Center is now open at the district offices on Santa Barbara Street.

The center has hundreds of books available on subjects such as autism, parenting, social issues and juvenile justice.

“I think it is very confusing for parents to go to the Internet and find information. It’s just like overwhelming. So here we’ve condensed it. It’s very targeted information and people to talk with them,” said organizer Cheri Rae.

District administrators are in the process of staffing the center, so parents have someone they can talk to about issues with their kids.

The Parent Resource Center also has materials for children and teachers.
