Theft of Honda cars up in Santa Barbara

Theft of Honda cars is on the rise in Santa Barbara.

Several 1990 and 2000 era Accords and Civics were stolen in Santa Barbara in the last few days.

One of the cars was just recovered. Laura Delgado was stunned when she received a call from the Santa Barbara Police Department. Cops found her late ’90s Honda Accord in a parking lot two doors away from where she left it.

“Because the cops called me and found my brother’s jacket, which was in a different car in Ventura. I thought my car was already done for parts. So it’s really weird how close by,” Delgado said.

Someone took textbooks and several pairs of shoes from the car, but there was no significant damage to the vehicle

Police said the thieves appear to have figured out a way to unlock and start the cars.

Police don’t know if all of the thefts are related, but they are looking into the possibility.
