Teen sent to hospital after stabbing

Santa Barbara Police are investigating a stabbing that sent one man to the hospital.

Police say a man showed up to Cottage Hospital around 12:20 a.m. on Sunday with multiple stab wounds. An officer who happened to be there started questioning him. Police say the incident happened along the 1100 block of East Mason Street.

The victim is in stable condition. Police are searching for the suspect or suspects. It’s unknown if this stabbing is gang related.

The Santa Barbara Police Department is currently investigating a stabbing that occurred on the 1100 block of E. Mason Street.

On August 11, 2013 at 12:20 a.m., SBPD Officer Eric Rosenberg was completing a call for service at the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital Emergency Room when he saw a vehicle enter the ER parking lot at a high rate of speed and stop near the patient entrance. An 18-year old male Santa Barbara resident exited the car, assisted by family and friends, and entered the facility. Officer Rosenberg saw that the man was bleeding profusely from multiple stab wounds to his torso and was also suffering from blunt force injuries to his face. Officer Rosenberg initiated an investigation into the incident which is still ongoing. The crime scene was located on 1100 E. Mason Street.

Investigation indicates that prior to the incident the victim had attended a party on Santa Barbara’s Eastside. He left the party to walk to a nearby fast food restaurant. While en route he was attacked by a suspect or suspects who struck him on the face with an object and then stabbed him repeatedly. Following the attack the victim walked to his residence and was then driven to the hospital.

Investigators have not yet determined if this incident is gang related. The victim remains hospitalized and is expected to survive. Additional details are being withheld.
