Ex-youth pastor pleads guilty to lewd acts with a child

A former local youth pastor plead guilty to having sex with two underage females while he was employed at the Carpinteria Community Church.

Santa Barbara County District Attorney said Louis Bristol admitted to having sex with a 14 and 16-year-old.

While he was employed as a youth pastor Bristol also plead guilty to providing marijuana to the 16-year-old.

Bristol will be sentenced in September.

Santa Barbara County District Attorney Joyce E. Dudley announced that today Louis Joseph Bristol, age 28, plead guilty to having sex with two different minor females, ages 14 and 16, while he was employed as a Youth Pastor for the Carpinteria Community Church. Mr. Bristol pled guilty to felony violations of Penal Code section 288(c)(1), lewd act upon a 14-year-old, and Penal Code section 261.5(d), unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor.

Mr. Bristol also plead guilty to furnishing marijuana to the 16-year-old minor, a misdemeanor violation of Penal Code section 272(a)(1). In addition, Mr. Bristol plead guilty to sending a sexually explicit video of himself to a third unrelated victim, an adult, a misdemeanor violation of Penal Code section 311.2(a). Mr. Bristol will be sentenced on September 12, 2013, in Department 10, the Honorable Clifford Anderson presiding.

In addition to the time he will spend in custody, Mr. Bristol must: register as a sex offender; stay away from the City of Carpinteria and the victims for five years; attend Sex Addict Anonymous meetings; not accept employment or work with people under the age of 18; and other standard sex offender terms and conditions.

“An agreement was reached to the satisfaction of the victims, their parents, and the investigating law enforcement officers,” stated prosecuting attorney Paula Waldman. Waldman continued, “Several remaining charges will be dismissed at the time of sentencing as a result of the further investigation that occurred after the original charges were filed.”
