Crash injures woman and child

A driver struck a woman pushing a child in a stroller around 7 p.m. Wednesday.

It happened on the corner of Haley and Bath streets.

Santa Barbara Police and Firefighters closed off the Bath Street exit on the 101 freeway for about an hour while paramedics treated a woman and a two and half year old boy.

Fire Captain Michael Myers said it appears the woman and child were in the cross walk.

First responders picked up the boy and put him on the trunk of their car. They said he was brave and didn’t cry. Both were taken to the hospital for x-rays.

Police interviewed the driver but did not say whether she would be cited.
