School year goals include call for parental involvement

Santa Barbara school officials say they head into the coming year encouraged by programs to educate all students, but call on parents to be involved on a daily basis.

Dr. David Cash spoke in depth at a pre school year press conference, about a number of goals, that include instructional programs, testing, technology and security that will be in place when classes begin August 26th.

Two campuses have year round programs and they are already underway, but all other schools welcome students back in just under three weeks.

Cash says parental involvement is vital and said stimulating a child’s curiosity will help them seek an education when they come to their campus.

He also pointed out some inconsistent results from current teaching programs, and his renewed efforts to level the playing field with all of the district’s resources, so students who are behind, can get caught up as soon as possible.
