15 neglected horses ready for new homes

The Santa Maria Animal Shelter is hoping to find new homes for 15 horses that were neglected by their owners.

Stacy Silva, Community Coordinator, says that some of the horses were abandoned and some were stray. The horses were quickly nursed back to health by a vet and now they are healthy and ready to be loved.

“We are looking for anybody that has the knowledge and ability to care for a horse that has the property or a boarding stable that they have already scooped out, has a place to place the horse and is financially capable of caring for one of these animals,” said Silva.

If you are someone who is interested in adopting one of the horses or just wants to help with their upkeep, call the shelter at 681-5285.
