California Mid-State Fair tallies up attendance

Around 400,000 people walked through the gates in Paso Robles this year for the California Mid-State Fair. Even though plenty of people attended more than one day, officials say that they only had a 1 percentincrease from last year.

This year’s most popular section was the livestock auctions, which sold and brought in salestopping $2 million.Though 400,000 sounds like a lot of people, many fairgoers said that it was a good crowd and it never felt too crowded.

The record remainsthat of2011, when 430,000 people went to the fair. That year’s concerts were the most popular, according to fair officials. The total number of people and money made at the fair won’t be all calculated until October.

Next year’s fair will run July 16 through 27.
