Stinky flower in bloom

UC Santa Barbara’s rare corpse flower has begun to bloom. They named the plant Chanel and she is the most unusual plant in the greenhouse.

The 7-year-old plant is called Titan arum, or more commonly known as the corpse flower, because of its strong aroma.

The greenhouse will be open Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon and from 5-8 p.m.

UCSB has a live webcam that takes a photo of the plant every five minutes http://www.eemb.ucsb.edu/ArumBloom/A.titanum.jpg
