Illegal warming fire ignites brush

Santa Barbara County firefighters temporarily stopped train and freeway traffic to put out a vegetation fire in Goleta.

Capt. David Sadecki said the fire started around 9:38 p.m. between tracks and the 101 freeway, just south of Fairview Avenue.

Firefighters had it out within a half hour.

They used power saws to cut down some of the trees and brush in the burn area.

Captain Sedecki said they met their goal of keeping fires from grower to more than ten acres.

This fire was only about a quarter acre.

The homeless campers were not found.
