Cadets graduate Law Enforcement Explorer Academy

The Law Enforcement Explorer Academy graduated 41 cadets from six different agencies Saturday.

After two weeks of physical and mental challenges, the young men and women, ages 14 to 20, received their certificate of completion after an inspection by Santa Barbara County Sheriff Bill Brown and Santa Barbara City Police Chief Cam Sanchez.

The academy is a program for young men and women who are interested in a career in law enforcement or public safety. The goal is to involve the youth as well as build confidence and responsibility.

The law enforcement agencies involved in Saturday’s graduation are the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office, Santa Barbara Police Department, Arroyo Grande Police Department, Guadalupe Police Department, Lompoc Police Department and Santa Maria Police Department.
