Kids start their own businesses

Young entrepreneurs are learning a thing or two about starting up a business and how to make a profit from it.

Kids from up and down the coastjoined a three-week program that taught students how to create a business plan, market their products and then successfully sell them. Instructors hope that students learn the importance of taking a small idea and turning into a profitable business.

Homemade good like jewelry, garden plants, smoothies, cookies and even dog treats were sold by the students who wrote out their own business plans and set their own prices. The class is part of the annual summer College for Kids program held at Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo.
