National Hot Dog day relished across the country

On this National Hot Dog Day consumers can relish many choices when they look for one of America’s favorite treats.

At the Brat Haus in downtown Santa Barbara, you can get the famous beef frank, but also many other choices of dogs and sausages. They are sometimes topped with caramelized onions, sauerkraut, and even a spicy habanero.

Several other local businesses have opened in recent years with the hot dog as a featured menu item.

While Santa Barbara does not allow street vendors like you see in New York, there’s still a daily cart permitted to the south on the bluffs at Bailard Ave. in Carpinteria.

All American Surf Dogs has been selling a dogs overlooking the ocean for more than 15 years.
