Local NBA players conduct basketball camp

Julyan Stone and Orlando Johnson are living their dream as they have reached the NBA. James Nunnally just completed summer league for the NBA’s Miami Heat. Now theseplayers with Santa Barbara ties are imparting their knowledge to sixty kids at the first-ever Shooting Star Basketball Camp at Bishop Diego High School.

The camp runs through Wednesday and ends with a barbecue. They hope it is the first of many camps to come for Santa Barbara-area kids.

Stone is a graduate of Dos Pueblos High School and after two seasons with the Denver Nuggets, he recently signed a two-year contract with the Toronto Raptors.

Johnson is UCSB’s all-time leading scorer and had a successful rookie year with the Indiana Pacers.

Nunnally is 4th on UCSB’s all-time scoring list and played for the Bakersfield Jam of the NBA Development League last year.

This Friday night those three along with other professional players will battle the Santa Barbara Breakers at 7 p.m. at San Marcos High School. Tickets are five dollars for adults and children are free.
