Clang of a trolley returns to Ventura

Trolley service is making a comeback in Ventura.

A trolley supported by side car advertising didn’t last in the 1990s.

This month, business owners and the city chipped in to bring the service back.

Sam Sadove, the owner of the Rhumb Line restaurant on the north side of the Ventura Harbor, said connecting downtown to the Harbor made financial sense.

Customers don’t have to worry about traffic or finding a parking space.

Locals and tourists filled the trolley Wednesday.

Trolley stops include the visitor center on California Street and the train depot next to the Ventura County Fairgrounds.

The free Ventura trolley runs from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.

Service will also be available on holidays.
