Port christens new crane

The deep-sea Port of Hueneme has a new crane.

Port leaders and Port America formally christened the stevedoring company’s newest piece of heavy equipment Wednesday.

The mobile harbor crane is the second one of its kind at the Port.

Port workers said the 376-ton crane will increase shore side productivity.

Port of Hueneme CEO & Port Director Kristin Decas said, “The new Mobile harbor is representative of the strong partnership between Chiquita brand and Port America. It also represents a big win for all the Port’s customers, our labor force and the port’s potential to attract new business.”
