Ventura considers medical marijuana sales ban
There are not any medicinal marijuana dispensaries in Ventura, and Mayor Mike Tracy wants to keep it that way.
Tracy used to be Ventura’s police chief, but he said his law-enforcement background has little to do with his proposal.
Tracy said the jury is still out on whether smoking marijuana has medicinal benefits.
He said a recent California Supreme Court ruling allows municipalities, such as Ventura, to ban medicinal marijuana stores and mobile dispensaries.
Eric Williams opposes the ban. He has a letter from his doctor for medicinal marijuana use. He said it helps him with anxiety.
The proposal is on Monday night’s Ventura City Council agenda.
