Clues into the discovery of human remains off Hwy 154

There may be some clues to help identify the body found in a ravine along Painted Cave Road just off Highway 154.

NewsChannel 3 is learning there is a missing person’s case dating back to March of last year that may be tied to this discovery.

Fifty-four year old Timothy Goodwin went missing March 5th, 2012. He was last seen driving away from his Goleta apartment in a 2005 White Chevy truck.

The body discovered last week was also found inside a white Chevy truck. Authorities indicated that the human remains seemed to have been there a while. The truck was first spotted by a Sheriff’s helicopter on patrol.

While the Sheriff’s department is not making any connections, the details of this missing person’s case seem to match what authorities initially stated. Sheriff’s deputies have confirmed that the recovered vehicle is registered to a person that’s been missing out of Santa Barbara since March of 2012.

It may take weeks before the Santa Barbara County Coroner’s office identifies the body. The Sheriff’s department is not providing any further information and is not confirming these findings.
