Neighborhood on the lookout for missing python

Signs are posted throughout a neighborhood in Goleta after a family’s Ball Python went missing.

The Shimada family has had Cleo, short for Cleopatra, for six years. Three weeks ago she slithered out of a small slit in her cage and hasn’t been heard from since.

She is about five feet long and is almost as round as a baseball. Ball Pythons like to eat mice and rats. But, some neighbors say they are keeping their small dogs inside just in case.

Cleo’s owners say she is not venomous and is very friendly. The name “Ball Python” refers to the animal’s tendency to curl into a ball when stressed or frightened.

If you’ve seen Cleo, call or text (805) 636-2606.
