Lucky Penny set to open in the funk zone

A new restaurant is headed to Santa Barbara’s funk zone for a mid-July opening. The new hot spot, on 131 Anacapa Street,is already creating buzz because it’s walls are made of thousands of pennies.

With the help of high school students from three local non-profit youth groups, they were able to mount the penny tiles which took a few months. Lucky Penny will offer prizes for customers who find their birth year on the wall, or who can guess the total number of pennies. The restaurant will serve wood-fired pizzas, hand crafted coffees and home baked cookies.

To say thanks, Lucky Penny donated $1,000 to each of the three non-profits that contributed : Future Leaders of America, Multiple Sclerosis Society and Youth Interactive.

The eatery will share the parking lot with the new restaurant Lark that is replacing Bay Caf.
