UPDATE: Massive power outage due to equipment failure

Central coast residents from Solvang to Cambria were hit with a massive power outage.

A spokesperson for PG&E said the outage began 9:30 p.m Sunday. It was a result of an equipment failure at a substation and did not involve the Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant.

At its peak, 145,000 customers were without power. Full power was restored to all customers by 2 a.m.
