Dog rescued from Elings Park storm drain

A dog was rescued over the weekend after falling into a storm drain.

It happened Sunday afternoon at Elings Park in Santa Barbara. A witness says a woman was walking two dogs when suddenly one of the dogs, a Dachshund, jumped off the curb and slipped into the drain, while still attached to its leash.

The dog, “Mattie,”had fallen too farout of it’s harness and could not be reached. The Santa Barbara Fire and Police departments arrived to help. Mattie was pulled out and was reunited with her owner.
