Santa Barbara police and firefighters responded to a fire at an apartment complex at 410 West Sola Street just after 10 p.m. Thursday night.

Some residents told NewsChannel 3 they heard an explosion just before they saw the fire. Minutes later, witnesses reported seeing flames coming out of one of the apartments.

Police stopped all traffic in the area including on Castillo between Micheltorena and Sola. Crews from Southern California Edison and the gas company arrived on scene to inspect the scene.
