Market opens after six year wait
Patient shoppers said the opening of Whole Foods Market at The Collection at Riverpark was worth the six year wait.
For years, people could see the empty store from the 101 Freeway in Oxnard.
But when Riverpark home sales started to slip followed by the stock market crash of 2008 opening dates came and went year after year.
The store is holding its grand opening this week.
Inside shoppers will find several things unique to the area.
There is a beer garden built into an Airstream. It’s called Bar Rincon, after the famous surf spot north of Ventura.
There is also plenty of locally grown produce.
Whole Foods plans to donate a portion of its sales to farm worker housing projects next Wednesday, June 26.
