Sound of explosion cause revealed

We know what caused the sound of an explosion in a Goleta neighborhood.

It happened around 6 p.m. Tuesday during a house fire on Momouth Avenue in Goleta. Santa Barbara County firefighter Cpt. David Sadecki said burning ammunition, propane and cans of paint created the loud noise.

“It was like a loud explosion. It was really loud. And, it was like pop, pop pop,” said neighbor Howard Rose.

The explosive material was stored in a shed near the home. Firefighters are confident the fire started in the shed but, the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
