Santa Maria man charged with attempted murder in motel stabbing

A 21-year-old Santa Maria man is charged with attempted murder after stabbing a man during a fight at a motel in Santa Maria.

David Gilbert Godinez, of Santa Maria, was arrested just after 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Budget Inn in the 1100 block of N. Broadway.

When authorities arrived, they found a man with multiple lacerations to his stomach, said Santa Maria police Detective M. Parker.

He was taken to Cottage Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Godinez was booked into Santa Barbara County jail. He is charged with attempted murder.
