Firefighters contain brush fire near Fillmore

Firefighters from Fillmore, Santa Paula and Ventura County worked all night to surround a fire south of the Hopper Mountain Condor refuge.

They named the 60-acre fire the Condor Fire.

The condor sanctuary was not threatened and no one was injured. But it was difficult to get water and crews to the flames. Five air tankers helped put the flames out.

Windy and dry weather conditions helped the fire quadruple in size Tuesday afternoon.

The cause remains under investigation.
