Smuggling boat headed to impound yard
Vessel Assist towed a smuggling boat from Santa Barbara County to the Ventura Harbor last night.
The boat was discovered on a beach north of Refugio by a sheriffs deputy.
Homeland Security agents say it appears to be a case of human trafficking and not drug smuggling. No arrests were made.
The boat can fit about 17 people on board. FBI agents said they will be towing it to an impound yard at Capastrano beach where it will be held as evidence in case a smuggler is caught.
