Smuggling boat found on Tajiguas Beach

A smuggling boat was found on Monday morning at Tajiguas Beach, north of Refugio State Beach.

The boat was found around 6:54 a.m.

Sheriff’s deputies along with narcotics investigators found a 25-foot drug smuggling boat, also known as a panga, on the beach. Investigators found items inside and around the boat including fuel containers, clothing and trash.

It is unknown if the boat was used to smuggle drugs or if it was used for human trafficking.

This is the third smuggling boat found in the area in recent months and the 22nd found in Santa Barbara County since August 2011.
