Firefighters fighting blaze in Simi Valley

Ventura County firefighters are trying to put out a brush fire in Simi Valley.

It started just after 4p.m. in the hills near Los Angeles Avenue and Stearns Street.

At least 10 fire engines, two helicopters and two fixed-wing aircraft are assigned to the fire.

The 30-acre fire caused Metrolink to shut down service.

No word on when service will resume.

Winds appear to be blowing the flames away from homes.

Every new fire serves as a reminder that fire season has only just begun.
