Arson fire damages historic home in SLO

An early morning arson is under investigation in San Luis Obispo.

The flames broke out after 1:15 a.m. Thursday morning at an historic three-story, 6,000-square-foot home on the 500 block of Islay Street.

Fire officials say three adults and two children were awakened by the smell of smoke and got out of the home safely.

Fire investigators say the blaze was intentionally set using “combustible” materials found near the home and placed next to an exterior wall.

The fire caused an estimated $5,000 in damage.

If you know anything about this fire, you’re urged to call the Fire Marshal at 805-781-7386.
