Mom accused of driving under the influence and endangering her child
A Santa Barbara mother is in jail Tuesday evening accused of nearly killing her 3-year-old.
Police say 34-year-old Adriana Cardenas was under the influence of several narcotics when she caused two hit and run accidents, and then passed out behind the wheel with her toddler on her lap.
The alleged incident happened in the Santa Barbara waterfront area Monday afternoon.
Cardenas was arrested for felony child endangerment, misdemeanor DUI and misdemeanor hit and run.
Her daughter complained of a headache after the accidents. She is now under the care of child welfare services.
