Driver crashes into fire hydrant, parked cars

Santa Barbara Police are investigating what caused a driver of a pick up truckto veer off the road, sheer off a power pole and knock over a fire hydrant, beforehittinga parked car.

It happened just after 11 p.m. Tuesday night on Carrillo and Vista Del Pueblo in Santa Barbara. Water spewed from the hydrant for about 15 minutes before crews from the city’s Public Works Department showed up to shut it off.

Meanwhile, the driver of the truck was taken to the hospital for minor injuries. Officers said it could take several hours to clear the area.
