Tents go up for Casa Pacifica fundraiser

The Casa Pacific Angels Wine & Food Festival will mark its 20th anniversary on Sunday.

Casa Pacifica is a nonprofit crisis-care and residential treatment facility in Camarillo that serves abused, neglected or at-risk children from Ventura and Santa Barbara counties.

Volunteers from Bank of America, Meathead Movers and E.J. Harrison put up festival tents behind the clock tower at Cal State University Channel Islands.

The location is just down the street from Casa Pacifica.

Both locations had to evacuate during last month’s Springs fire. Festival guests are likely to notice the burned backdrop during the event.

But the grass is green on the festival grounds, where 185 wineries and breweries will be serving drinks. There will also be food exhibitors, a silent auction and entertainment.

Organizers said tickets to the event sold out Wednesday.

They hope anyone who missed out will buy a ticket for next year or just make a donation.

CEO Steve Elson said it’s really about the children Casa Pacifica serves.
